Meet our 2013 Jingle Bell Run Honorees

Chris Bickers - age 3 - Juvenile Arthritis Honoree
Chris was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis when he was just three. His parents first noticed a sore and swollen wrist, but immediately assumed he had hurt himself horsing around with his twin sister and older brother as three year olds do. Then they noticed a swollen knuckle and then what felt like overnight, their otherwise healthy child, was crying out in pain from normal everyday activities. Chris’s parents, like all parents, most basic wishes for their son all of a sudden were challenged.

Dr. Richard Illgen - UW Health Medical Honoree
Dr. Illgen began his career at the University of Wisconsin, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, in August 2000 and currently serves as co-director of the Arthritis and Joint Replacement Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. His expertise includes primary and revision hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacement (unicompartmental knees), hip resurfacing, and robotic-assisted orthopedic surgery. He has authored numerous articles on these topics, presents nationally and internationally on his research, and was recently awarded the Clinical Practice Physician Excellence Award by The University of Wisconsin recognizing his dedication to outstanding patient care.
